MAJOR EVENTS

In the brief span of last three years, the Foundation has endeavored to successfully hold many major international events and organize talks and discussions in participation with Indian scholars as well as foreign experts. 

  • The first major event organized by Eurasian Foundation was an International Conference on ‘Contemporary World  and Russia’s Role in its Development’ organized on 2nd May, 2006 at hotel Le Meridian, New Delhi, India. The event was organized in collaboration with Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi. Russian delegation, consisting of eminent scholars and parliament members, was headed by Mr. Valery Fadeev, author of the economic programme that envisages Russia’s long-term economic strategy and Chief Editor of ‘Expert’, one of Russia’s most prestigious journals on economic affairs. The Conference was inaugurated by Dr. Shakeel Ahmed, Hon’ble Union Minister of State Communications & Information Technology, Government of India. The Valedictory Session was chaired by Mr. Shashank, Former Foreign Secretary and addressed by the Chief Guest, Mr. Oscar Fernandes, Hon’ble Union Minister of State, Government of India. 14 Russian Scholars had participated in the Conference. Some of the prominent speakers of the Conference were Valery Yegozaryan, Director of the Centre for Studies in International Relations; Alexander Tyagunov, Head of the India caucus in Russian State Duma Committee on Culture; Prof. Valeri Chichkanov, Vice-Rector of the Russian Academy of Public Administration under the President of Russian Federation; Mr. Sergey Bodrunov, Vice-Chairman of the Board of Russian-Indian Business Council; Prof. Vladimir Avdiyskyi, Head of the Economic Security Department at the Finance Academy, Moscow; Mr. Jacob Paul Turlapati, Director Avsmpo; Prof. Devandra Kaushik, Former Chairman, Maulana Abul Kalam Azad Institute of Asian Studies, Kolkata; Prof Abhijit Sen, Member, Planning Commission, Government of India; Prof Anuradha Chenoy, Director Area Studies Programme, Centre for Russian and Central Asian Studied, JNU; Prof Ajay Patnaik, Chairperson, Centre for Russian and Central Asian Studied, JNU; Prof Shree Prakash, Jamia Milia Islamia University and others.
  •   On 18th January, 2007 the Foundation organized an ‘Indo-Russian Business Meet’ in collaboration with ASSOCHAM on “Energy, Technology and Transport”, in the run-up to President Vladimir Putin’s visit to India, at ASSOCHAM House, 47 Prithviraj Road, New Delhi. A 25- member Russian delegation consisting of captains of industry, CEOs of leading business houses, eminent scientists participated in the Conference. Eminent Indian scholars, members of leading think tanks of Delhi, policy makers, members of diplomatic corps, representatives of Indian business and media were also part of the Conference. The Conference provided the platform for extensive interaction between the business communities of both the countries. The prominent participants included Mr. Gautam Sen ED & Chief Corporate Planning; Mr. S.I. Tsybukov; Mr. S.D. Dubey Director, CEA; Mr. M.N. Chyryatev; Mr. A.P. Bahadur Chief Engineer, Ministry of Transport; Mr. S.K. Varshney Department of Science & Technology; Mr. A.Y. Bilibin and others.

  •  Another major International Conference on ‘Development Models and Global Integration’ was organized in collaboration with the Centre for Russian and Central Asian Studies of Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi in association with World Public Forum on Dialogue of Civilizations on 24-25 January, 2007. Vladimir Yakunin, Russian Railway Minister and Co-Chairman of World Public on Dialogue of Civilizations was the Guest of Honour and Oscar Fernandes, Union Minister of Labour, Government of India was the Chief Guest. Other prominent Russian guests were Prof. Atkov Olgyurevich, General Secretary, World Public on Dialogue of Civilizations; Loptnikov Victoralekserich, Member of Federation Council, Russia; Dr Gromiko Yuri Vyacheslavovich, Director, Institute of Political Research.   • The International Conference on ‘Russian Culture, Society and Identity’ was organised by the Foundation on 14-16 November, 2007, to commemorate Indian Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh’s official visit to Russia and mark the year of Russian language in the world initiated by President Putin and endorsed by UNO. Eminent public figures, intellectuals, academicians, and research scholars were participated from both Russia and Indian side. Mr. Andrei A. Sorokin, Mr. Shashank, former foreign secretary of India, Prof. Anuradha Chenoy, Prof. Pushpesh Pant, Prof. Ramadhikari Kumar, Dr. Arun Mohanty, Prof. Varyam Singh , Dr. Kunwar Kant, Prof. Ajay Patnaik, many  Research Scholars and students from Delhi  participated in  the event .
